We are seeking a compassionate, tenacious, and legally informed Legal Aid Field Advocate to provide on-site support and rights advocacy during large-scale events, protests, or community crisis operations. In this role, you will be the primary liaison between affected individuals and available legal resources, ensuring that participants understand their rights, documenting potential violations, and coordinating emergency legal support when necessary. If you possess a background in law or advocacy, the ability to remain calm under significant pressure, and a deep commitment to social justice and human rights, this is a pivotal role that ensures the protection and empowerment of vulnerable populations in the field.

Key Responsibilities
Rights Advocacy & Education: Distribute "Know Your Rights" materials and provide on-site educational briefings to event participants, ensuring they are informed of local laws and protections.

On-Site Crisis Support: Act as the first point of contact for individuals experiencing legal or safety-related issues, providing immediate de-escalation, guidance, and assistance in connecting with legal counsel.

Incident Documentation: Meticulously document observations, witness statements, and evidence of potential civil rights violations or safety infractions for future legal review.

Liaison & Coordination: Facilitate communication between field participants, local authorities, legal observers, and external legal aid organizations to streamline support services.

Resource Referral: Maintain an up-to-date directory of local legal aid, medical services, and support organizations, ensuring referrals are timely and appropriate for the individual’s needs.

Safety & Compliance Oversight: Monitor field environments for safety risks and potential legal non-compliance, providing proactive feedback to event organizers to mitigate harm.

Post-Event Reporting: Compile data on incident patterns, support needs, and systemic issues observed in the field to assist in long-term advocacy and operational improvement.

Requirements & Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Legal Studies, Social Work, Human Rights, or related fields; current law students or paralegals are encouraged to apply.

Experience: 2–4 years of experience in legal aid, grassroots advocacy, community organizing, or field-based crisis support.

Technical Skills:

Proficiency in digital documentation and secure, encrypted communication tools (e.g., Signal, encrypted cloud storage).

Ability to quickly synthesize and communicate complex legal information to non-lawyers.

Aptitude for maintaining rigorous field logs and incident databases.
